Valentine's Powdered Cookies

I had the brilliant idea to use cardstock cutouts from my Cricut cutting machine to press images into some cookies for Valentine's Day!  FAILURE!  It did not work at all.  The indent was so slight that when the cookies rose during baking the image completely disappeared.  Bummer.  I was really hoping it would work!  I decided to try and salvage the situation by using the cutouts to create powdered silhouettes on the cookies.  SUCCESS!  Now I at least have something presentable to give to my honey tomorrow!

These cookies (minus the creative process!) were super easy to make.

Ingredients
1 box of cake mix (I used Strawberry and Red Velvet for red and pink...and because well....YUM!!)
1/3 cup oil
2 eggs.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Directions
1. Stir ingredients.  When it is full mixed you should have a nice dough.  Make sure to break up any balls of cake mix before adding the oil and eggs or your cookies might end up with little pockets of powder.

2. Scoop out 1 inch balls of dough and roll them into balls and place in rows on your cookie sheet.  Use a flat bottom cup to smoosh the dough down.  This will create nice pefect-ish round cookies!

3. Bake for 6-8 minutes.  Let the cookies sit for a few minutes to cool.  They will also "deflate" a bit a become much flatter looking.

4. Allow the cookies to cool and then lay your paper cutouts, lace, doily edges, etc. over each cookie and powder.  I also put some red sugar on a few of my Red Velvet cookies for a pretty glimmer!   You can really decorate however and with whatever you'd like.  Here's the chance to let your creativity shine!

Oh, and last but not least....Enjoy!
