1910 Home Renovation: Modern Farmhouse Kitchen Design Board

Yesterday I shared the progress we're making on our kitchen gut and renovation.  While my husband and helpers have been ripping the kitchen out I've been busily making a wish list for cabinets, counters, appliances, and fixtures.  I want a balance of light/dark and colorful/muted elements that create a modern yet historic feel.

We plan on open shelving and white glass front cabinets on the top and white cabinets with medium tone butcher block counters on the bottom.  Polished nickel knobs and pulls will most likely be accented with an oil rubbed bronze faucet and lighting.  Smooth finish Whirlpool White Ice appliances will blend perfectly with the white cabinets!  I plan on painting the wall to the dining room in chalkboard paint and hanging a pretty colorful oil painting.  Our farmhouse hutch will be placed along the bathroom wall and painted in either Miss Mustard Seed's Boxwood Milk Paint or a butter colored paint with white interior.  The slatted wood pantry doors are staying and hopefully the wood floors will be complete and we can refinish them to match.

  1. What a beautiful collection! I so want those sconces! (hah, I accidentally wrote scones the first time. Guess we know what's on my mind!)

  2. I could get some serious cooking done in that kitchen! I love that painting too - I can see how it draws everything together. Beautiful!

  3. Love all your picks. It's going to be gorgeous!

  4. I love your mood board! It's going to be gorgeous! I can't wait to see you. Your style is stunning.
